Terms: This is a permanent, full time job, which requires working days, evenings, nights, and weekends. Shift work is involved. Some overtime will be available.

Credentials required: The applicant should have Lineman Trade Certification, 2nd Period Apprentice, 3rd Period Apprentice, 4th Period Apprentice, Lineman Red Seal Certificate.

Type of Establishment Experience: Electrical contractor

Type of Equipment: Power line and cables, Insulators, Conductors, Lightning arrestors, Switches, Transformers, Poles, towers and guy wires, Hydraulic buckets

Specific Skills: Install, repair and maintain electrical distribution and transmission systems, Erect and maintain poles, towers and guy wires, Inspect and test power lines and cables, Install and maintain street lighting systems, Adhere to safety practices and procedures

Additional Skills: Read blueprints, Work at heights, Write maintenance reports, Instruct apprentices

Security and Safety: Driver’s validity license check

Own Tools/Equipment: Tools, Steel-toed safety boots

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Handling heavy loads, Tight deadlines, Physically demanding, Manual dexterity, Bending, crouching, kneeling

Work Site Environment: Outdoors, Dangerous, At heights, Underground

Transportation/Travel Information: Valid driver’s licence, Vehicle supplied by employer, Willing to travel
